Oh and I should mention I also have an ensoniq sq1 plus, so i guess if something could be used with both guitar and synth might be interesting, although i'm more than happy with the sounds on the ensoniq

I am buying a cheap guitar to fool around with, probably a squier or epi LP II (saw a lightly used godin triumph for 200 though). My main goal is to play through a device, either iphone 3g or laptop i5. I would prefer laptop i think, and I don't want to buy a lot of extra effects. I also like the Rocksmith usb interface idea vs the Guitar Link, since i would have the option of using the game.

Can you help with these questions:

1. What is my cheapest/easiest way to get fat sounds and effects by buying a guitar and 1 interface. I thinkl the iphone has drawbacks vs laptop, but maybe less latency issues?. I like the idea of being able to do a lot more with the laptop.

2. For the laptop Would it be better to get the guitar Link or rocksmith USB interface. Would either get me a bunch of sounds/effects so i don't have to buy more? I have amplitude 3 installed, would either of these work with it, and would i have to buy anything else to get sounds.

3. Does it matter which guitar I go for if using effects, cabinets, etc? I may not even buy a real amp.

4. Does ampkit come with enough effects and cabs stock?

5. As far as guitars, for easy on the fingers playability, should i go for squier bullet, epi LP II, Godin triumph or Ibanez Electric Guitar Gto..Black..G SERIES...N427 with 5 pickups, or Ibanez Rg 320 PG1 with Zoom g2.1u (2005). Again, wondering if it makes any difference re: pickups and the actual analog tone of the pickups and wood once you get the sound into an amp simulator

6. Am i right to be really excited i can buy a really cheap guitar and get crazy sound through software?

Any advice is helptful. thanks

It definitely is intended for a more professional user. I'm still playing with it and still impressed with the sound quality compared to the other interfaces I've tried. Very anxious for the new model to be released so I can use it with the iPad and iPhone 4.

I just bought the ampkit link and I'm stoked that someone responded to this need with Guitarjack. All I can find on the net is this and that about Ampkit and iRig. I strongly feel that these interfaces are aimed at hobbyists and as a professional on the go from gig to gig, I'd like a device that I can run through a PA in a pinch.
